Sirius Shipping has released a statement claiming that it has placed an order for two LNG-ready, 7999 dwt oil/chemical tankers. The ICE Class 1A vessels will be built at AVIC Dingheng Shipyard in China, and will be delivered in 2018. They will comply with future regulations, including Tier III, etc., and will be 119.90 m long.
Jonas Backman, MD, said: “The development of the EVOlution series began in 2012 with focus on fuel economy. With the knowledge built up in Sirius since then, we are now confident and ready to order two units.”
The vessels’ design was developed by Sirius in cooperation with FKAB, and is based on a proven hull design and fuel consumption. The vessels will both feature two-stroke main engines (4,500 kW), which will be able to be converted to operate on LNG, while the deck strenght and stability is designed so that two LNG-tanks can be mounted on deck.
