The Finnish company Gasum, active in the production and distribution of natural gas, the shipping company ESL Shipping and the Swedish steel producer SSAB have started tests for the use of bio-LNG as a marine fuel.
It was concluded at the end of July, at the Ministry of Environment, the procedure for the verification of environmental impact of the changes to the OLT (Offshore LNG Toscana) regasification plant operating off Livorno, necessary for the supply of small LNG tankers.
Rolande, market leader in the Netherlands in the construction of infrastructure for the production of liquefied natural gas and bio-LNG for trucks, has recently entered the German LNG market with the opening of its first LNG filling station in the city of Ulm.
The European Union has announced the allocation of € 142 million in funding for 19 projects aimed at the maritime use of LNG in the various Member States, through the conversion of ships capable of using LNG as fuel, as well as the installation of related storage and distribution infrastructures in the ports.
