Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku has delivered the 180,000-tonne LNG-fuelled cruise ship Mardi Gras to Carnival Cruise Line in a live virtual signing ceremony. Siem Car Carriers' (SCC) Aristotle, the second of two LNG-powered pure car truck carriers (PCTCs) in the SCC fleet, also began its maiden voyage from Emden, Germany, to North America.
The initiative is part of the Spanish LNGHIVE2 strategy coordinated by Enagás as part of the European CEF mechanism, which will provide funding equal to 20% of the construction cost for approximately 11 million euros. A similar initiative is being finalized for a second bunker vessel which will be dedicated to the port of Barcelona.
The methanisation of Sardinia is moving ahead with increasing momentum, with the construction of local LNG depots to replace the LPG and propane air depots used to supply the city's gas distribution networks. A few days ago, the plant in the municipality of Tissi (Sassari), built by CPL Concordia, a pioneer in the LNG sector in Italy, went into operation.
The Belgian gas group Fluxys and the LNG supplier Titan LNG have taken delivery of the FlexFueler 002, the LNG internal refuelling barge that will serve the Port and the Antwerp region from February 2021.
Among the first French carriers to focus on liquefied natural gas, the French company Transports Jacky Perrenot has just received 17 new LNG-powered Iveco S-Ways.
