As part of a project co-funded by the European Union through the Poseidon MED II program, Spanish engineering and technology group SENER has signed a contract with the Venetian maritime company Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido & C. srl to provide basic engineering and technical assistance for the construction of a dual fuel tugboat powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and marine diesel oil (MDO) combined with a non-motorized pontoon, which will operate in Italy and in the Adriatic.
The unit is a combination of a tug designed to accompany, rescue, refuel and rescue - equipped with a LNG or MDO fuelled Voith engine and a 65 tons bollard pull - and a non-motorized pontoon with a storage capacity of 4,000 cubic meters of LNG and 1,000 cubic meters of marine diesel oil.
SENER has announced the new contract in occasion of the 2018 edition of Gastech Conference and Exhibition, the world's largest fair for gas and LNG, which took place in Barcelona from the 17th to the 20th of last September.
