Singapore’s integrated energy company Pavilion Energy has performed the first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in the Port of Singapore.

The operation comprised a reload of 2,000 m3 of LNG onto a small-scale tanker at the newly-modified Secondary Jetty of the Singapore LNG (SLNG) Terminal, followed by a ship-to-ship transfer to the receiving heavy-lift commercial vessel.

Barnaud, Group CEO of Pavilion Energy, said “Pavilion Energy’s first commercial ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations in Singapore demonstrates our strong commitment and capability to deliver a comprehensive suite of LNG bunker supply solutions to Singapore and the region, and we are very pleased to have achieved this shared milestone in close collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), the Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) and other various stakeholders, partners and customers.

Pavilion Energy established its truck-to-ship bunkering capability in 2017, and further expanded its bunker logistics signing an agreement in August 2018 with SLNG for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Storage and Reload Services at the SLNG Terminal of Jurong,  and with the charter of its first LNG bunker vessel newbuild in February 2019.  

In addition, Pavilion Energy plans to employ a new LNG bunker vessel of 12,000 cubic meters of capacity (a GTT Mark III Flex membrane type) by 2021, owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. (MOL), which will be the largest of its kind employed in the Port of Singapore, to date. In June 2018, Pavilion Energy and Total agreed to share the use of this ship to supply LNG to their respective customers in the port of Singapore.
