Last September, the Wärtsilä Group has been awarded a major contract to supply and construct a plant for production of CO2-neutral liquid transport fuels. The plant will liquefy gas from the natural gas grid to produce carbon-neutral LNG. It will have a capacity of approximately 100,000 tons per year and located in Cologne, Germany.
Coinciding with the International Forum "LNG in the Euro-Mediterranean corridor and the role of the Logistic System of Genoa and Liguria", promoted by the Liguria Region and Genoa Metropolitan City, and organised by ConferenzaGNL, the La Spezia Harbour Master's Office published on 13 November the Order no. 174 approving the attached Regulation for the ship-to-ship LNG bunkering activities for passenger ships docking in the La Spezia port.

In France C4T Europe has opened a new mobile LNG (and CNG) station in Marck, near the Port of Calais and the Eurotunnel in the Transmarck Industrial Zone, at exit 48 of the A16 / E40 motorway, a strategic point for national and international transport as a gateway to the United Kingdom.
While the first LNG supply from ship to ship was being carried out in Italy in the port of La Spezia to supply the cruise ship Costa Smeralda, Japan and Malaysia also started these supply methods, which are rapidly expanding globally.
