The Hudong-Zhonghua (HZ) Chinese shipyard handed over to the Japanese shipowner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) the first of the two bunkers rented by Total Marine Fuels Global Solutions for the ten-year supply of the French shipowner CMA CGM's containerships.
After years of announced availability on the official sites, in early May in Marseille there was the first supply of LNG direct from tank ship to user ship (READ MORE here). Everything went smoothly under the grim control of a team of maritime firefighters and officials of the harbor master.
The first ship to ship refueling of LNG ever in France took place in Marseille on 4 May. The Coral Methane tanker has been involved and has been carrying out this type of operations in the ports of Tenerife and Barcelona for more than a year for the LNG cruise ships of the Carnival Group (the Costa Smeralda, flagship of Costa Cruises, and the Aida Prima).
On 6 May, the Raptor engine, powered by LNG and liquid oxygen, mounted on the prototype Starship SN4, was switched on and off at a standstill, without take-off. It was announced by Elon Musk, the innovative South African entrepreneur, who provided photos, videos and information about the Starship project being tested by his company SpaceX.
The role of LNG Marine Fuel (LNG MFI), a non-profit association, unique in the Southern hemisphere, which promotes the use of liquid methane in maritime transport based in Perth, Australia, is growing. With the participation of Chart Industries, the industrial presence in the association is strengthened, which already includes, among others, the presence of Woodside, Wartsila, Ironside, Mitsubishi Motors, Man, Mol, Bhp, Rio Tinto, Win GD.
