European logistics service provider Vos Logistics, based in The Netherlands, has purchased two Iveco Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Ecocombi trucks to service its client Pipelife Netherlands SA, a plastics products manufacturer. Vos provides all transport operations for Pipelife’s domestic and international requirements.

These are 25-meter long trucks with much heavier loads (from 60 to 90 tons) that using LNG can achieve greater cost and sustainability efficiency for both the company and its customers. The Ecocombi itself takes up to 60% more volume (145 m3) and 42% lower CO2 emissions in one move.

“Up until now there was the choice of either one of the two: employing an LNG truck or making use of the Ecocombi for transporting goods. This combination is quite innovative,” Roy van Tilburg, Manager Domestic Transport & Service Deliveries at Vos Logistics explains.

Vos is focusing on the use of LNG whenever possible as a means to achieving cost efficiency and sustainability for the company and its clients. LNG makes a positive contribution due to its lower emission of hazardous substances such as NOx, SOx, particulates and greenhouse gases. Vos’s approach is evidenced by collaborating on the first LNG filling station in mainland north-west Europe in 2010, together with Mercedes-Benz Nederland, LNG Europe, Van Gansewinkel and Indox CryoEnergy Spain.
