Hamina LNG Oy, a joint venture between Finland’s Haminan Energia and Estonia’s Alexela, has issued an international tender for the construction of an LNG import terminal in the Port of Hamina, Finland, on the country’s south-east coast.
Hamina LNG intends to build a small-scale import terminal able to receive LNG tankers with a size up to 25,000-cbm. The facility will have regasification possibilities for low and high-pressure grid, truck loading facilities and to re-load LNG back to bunkering barges and small-size tankers.
The engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) works are worth about 65 million euros and are expected to start on November 1 and last until the end of 2019, according to the tender documents. Companies are invited to submit their bids until October 14.
In March, the European Commission had approved Finland’s plan to grant €28 million for the construction of the small-scale LNG terminal. The public funding will cover 30% of the total investment costs; the remainder will be funded by the developer and future owner of the terminal, Hamina LNG Oy.
