Stena Line of Sweden has signed a deal for an order of four LNG-ready RoPax ferries to be built by AVIC Shipyard in China, in the Shandong Province .
According to Stena's statement, the vessels are scheduled for delivery During 2019 and 2020, and the agreement includes an option for four additional vessels. The vessels will accommodate about 1,000 passengers. Stena added that the main engines will be "gas ready", prepared to be fueled by either methanol or LNG.
Carl-Johan Hagman, Managing Director of Stena Line said the newly designed RoPax ferries will be 50 percent larger than the standard vessels and will be used within Stena Line route network in in Scandinavia, Great Britain and to the Baltic countries, where Stena Lines connects 10 countries, with 34 vessels in traffic.
