Slovenian company Energetika Ljubljana said it had officially opened the country’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station for trucks at the junction of two major European freight corridors (E61 and H3).

The construction of the LNG station located in the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, is a Slovenian-Spanish partnership project, involving the local companies as Enos LNG,  Energetika Ljubljana and the Spanish HAM Criogénica. The project is co-financed by the European Union (Connect Europe Facility - CEF), for  the deployment of 3 L-CNG refuelling stations in three strategic points across the Mediterranean Corridor, in the Port of Barcelona (Spain), in La Jonquera (Spain) and in Ljubljana (Slovenia).

At the delivery ceremony of the first LNG station in Slovenia, which took place on November 30 2017, were present, Zoran Janković mayor of Ljubljana, Sofia Papantoniadou representative of INEA (Innovation and Networks Executive Agency), Klemen Potisek secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure, representatives of ENOSLNG and ENERGETIKA, engineers and managers of HAM.

In the first quarter of 2018, Energetika Ljubljana is also launching the distribution of natural gas from the LNG storage in the municipality of Grosuplje, in the traditional region of Lower Carniola.
