The GAZ Group, one of the main Russian manufacturers of natural gas vehicles has designed a new LNG-powered bus that will be marketed under the initials LiAZ-5292 LNG, after the completion of all certification tests and following the the final approval of the new model.
Over 12 meters long and capable of carrying 106 passengers, the LiAZ-5292 LNG bus is equipped with a 375-liter LNG tank that allows to travel over 300 km with a single refuelling of liquefied natural gas; Its Russian-made YaMZ-536 6-cylinder in-line (6.65 liters) has 312 hp, with an emissions standard of Euro 5.
The prototype is currently in service in Chelyabnisk for a test phase along the city's regular lines. After the trial period, the pre-production of the first pilot batch of LiAZ-5292 LNG will begin in the "Likino Bus Plant" which will be built in the fourth quarter of 2020.
