Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) - through its wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel FELS Ltd (Keppel FELS) - has recently secured a contract for a “LNG-ready” newbuilt high-specification trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) vessel destined to Van Oord shipping company. The order follows from an option granted to Van Oord based on earlier contracts that were entered into in May 2018 for two similar dredgers. Keppel O&M claims that the TSHD is expected to be completed in 1Q22, and will have a hopper capacity of 10 500 m3. It will be built to the requirements of classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) and will be LNG ready. The vessel will also be certified with the BV Green Passport and Clean Ship notations.
