Iveco and Edison signed an agreement at the end of last year to encourage an ever greater penetration of LNG in heavy road transport, also strengthening the gradual introduction of biomethane. The agreement intends to integrate the know-how of the two companies respectively in the LNG distribution chain and in the production of commercial vehicles powered by natural gas.
Edison's CEO, Nicola Monti, declared himself enthusiastic about the results obtained by the company, which has recently completed the first integrated LNG logistics chain in Italy at the service of sustainable mobility with the launch of the small-scale coastal depot of Ravenna. The company has long been the leading energy company to import LNG and CNG in Italy and this collaboration with Iveco, Europe's leading LNG truck manufacturer, with 55% of the market, confirms its commitment to the energy transition. .
Meanwhile, Iveco continues its expansion in Northern European markets, with the delivery of 65 S-Way LNG trucks to the Lithuanian company Vlantana, one of the most important operators in the transport sector in the country. Vladas Stončius, founder of Vlantana, stated that the purchase of the latest generation Iveco vehicles is part of the company's long-term strategy, which also includes the construction of LNG refueling points. Vlantana is building the first natural gas filling station near Klaipèda, near the most important Lithuanian highway. Initially, Vlantana will use the new IVECO S-WAY LNG along European routes, where the distribution network is already present.
