Gasum bioLNG plant renewed in Turku, Finland

Recently, the energy company Gasum completed the expansion and modernization of its liquefied biogas plant in Topinoja (near Turku, Finnish fifth most populated city), announcing the start of commercial operations.

The plant, capable of processing about 130,000 tons of biomass per year, will be able to produce approximately 60 GWh of bioGNL (LBG) corresponding to the annual fuel consumption of at least 125 heavy vehicles or 5,000 cars. The plant will also produce around 4,000 tons of ammonia hydrate to be used as fertilizer.

Gasum, which annually processes around 800,000 tons of biomass per year at 15 biogas plants in Finland and Sweden, expects to reach an availability of 4 TWh of biogas in the Nordic countries by 2024 through its own and its partners production.
