Foton Motor (Beijing-Mercedes) LNG truck for Argentina

The largest Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Beiqi Foton Motor in Changping (Beijing), 51% controlled by the Chinese government and 49% by Mercedes Benz, which in 2019 imported and marketed seven Auman EST LNG trucks in Argentina , announced plans to officially present this model across the country.

The Auman tractor, redesigned on the chassis and cab of the Merceses-Benz Actros, offers a load capacity of up to 49 tons. Thanks to the further reduction of the weight of the fuel tank which can contain up to a maximum of 330 kg of LNG (about 900 litres of gas in liquid form), the new trucks are able to travel 1,000 km continuously, making them particularly convenient in transport over long distance.

The Weichai WP13NG430E52 engine of the Foton Auman EST - a Cummins derivation model, with a displacement of 12.5 liters, a power of 430 HP and a 2,000 Nm torque - offers high performance, low weight and minimum operating costs. The Traxon automatic transmission, by the German ZF Friedrichshafen AG, is a 12-speed Fast Gear (6 low and 6 high).

In addition, the equipment includes the ABS + ASR braking system, central locking of the doors, electric windows, adjustable steering wheel, driver's seat with air suspension, electric folding cabin with air suspension, electric mirrors, radio with MP3 and USB port and air conditioning.

Marcelo Mauro, Commercial & Product Manager of Foton Trucks, during the Expoagro fair held last March in Argentina said "We will soon present our Auman LNG heavy truck line across the country; after having already sold seven units that are used by the Abreu company in Mendoza to transport LNG, soon new LNG units should be used in the Vaca Muerta area".

The Vaca Muerta basin, 30 thousand kilometers in Patagonia between the provinces of Neuquén and Río Negro, is considered the second largest shale gas reserve in the world, after the Permian Basin in the United States.
