The Finnish operator Gasum acquired its first LNG truck that will be used to transport sewage sludge between the Topinoja's biogas plant Topinoja and Kakolanmäki's purification plant, in support of diesel trucks used so far.
A LNG-powered Scania G340 LA4x2MNA tractor truck will make 5-6 journeys a day, five days a week, along a 16 km distance between the plants of Topinoja and Kakolanmäki, and will be supplied at the LNG/CNG station Gasum inaugurated last autumn at the Turku harbor, along with a similar plant built at the Vuoosari port near Helsink. Both distributors benefited from Community funding under the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
"The demand for LNG-fueled trucks has increased exponentially over the last year and it seems to continue to grow. Concern on environmental issues is also a key factor in the transport sector" commented Mika Jukkara, Product Manager at Scania Finland Oy.
In Summer 2017, in response to the growing demand by heavy-duty vehicles, Gasum will open two new LNG/CNG stations in Jyväskylä, Metsälehmuksentie 9, and Vantaa on Tulkintie road
