In the last week of June, Titan LNG in collaboration with the Port of Amsterdam has held the christening of its FlexFueler001 pontoon, marking the official start of its LNG bunkering activities in the ARA region.
Niels den Nijs, CEO of Titan LNG commented on the event: "I would like to thank Kooiman Marine Group, Cryovat and MSN for making this project a reality and also Beequip, AKEF and the Province of North Holland for helping to finance the project, jointly with the Port of Amsterdam that will host the FlexFueler001. Together with our partners we will continue to follow our mission to make LNG easily accessible to all our customers."
Femke Brenninkmeijer, Director of Energy, Cargo & Offshore Port of Amsterdam: "We are very enthusiastic about the FlexFueler, which makes barn bunkering in our port possible. It is the first barge dedicated to LNG bunkering in Europe and helps us to realize our ambition to become one of the cleanest and most sustainable ports in the world."
In January 2018, the Port of Amsterdam and the Dutch company Titan LNG had signed a contract for the long-term port use of the GNL FlexFueler001 bunkering pontoon (Click here to see the news of the LNG Conference)
Currently the FlexFueler001 pontoon is operated by Amulet Marine Services, serving ships ranging from tankers to containerships and Ro-Ros.
Furthermore, Titan LNG plans additional units to the FlexFueler001: in fact the FlexFueler002, currently under construction, will be ready by mid-2020 to operate in the Port of Antwerp, and a third ship will be announced in the coming months.
