LNG buses running in Pordenone

ATAP, the local public transport company of the Municipality of Pordenone (Friuli) has acquired 15 LNG buses from the Italian Bus Industry (IIA) that will gradually enter into service in the coming months. The vehicles will travel between 500 and 1000 kilometers with a full tank, depending on the number of cryogenic tanks adopted, from two to four, positioned on the roof of the vehicles. The seats, compared to the traditional buses in use in the Friulian city, pass sa 25 to 35.

Satisfied the Mayor of the city Alessandro Ciriani, together with the ATAP President, Narciso Gaspardo and the Municipal Councillor for Mobility Cristina Amirante, especially for the better environmental performance of the vehicles, acquired thanks to a state tender won by the Municipality of Pordenone. "We will become - commented the Mayor - among the first at European level for the number of ecological buses compared to the total fleet of 28 vehicles. It is an operation - added Ciriani - as part of a series of ecological actions in deeds, not in words, that we have put in place".

The ATAP provides for the construction of a refueling station dedicated to these vehicles. Friuli follows Emilia Romagna, where LNG buses are already widespread, while cities in Veneto have also expressed interest in acquiring them. In addition to the lower environmental impact, these vehicles are more flexible, as they can be used both in urban and interurban routes in the same configuration.
