Last week in Italy was inaugurated the southerly LNG plant in Mesagne, three kilometers far away from the state 7 that connects Brindisi to Taranto. The plant has a strategic location for the national transport routes and for the connection with Greece.
Made by the historic local company, Gruppo Bianco Petroli, which has not benefited from public subsidies, it began operating in the first days of November last year - here you can find the news from NewsletterGNL -.
The Scania collaboration at the ceremony was significant, demonstrating its new LNG vehicle powered by a 410 HP, with the new 13 liter Opticruise engine, a torque of 2,000 Nm and an autonomy of about 1,100 km. Also present were the representatives of the Ribatti Veicoli Industriali.
The LNG supply from Barcelona is driven by Goldengas in collaboration with Levorato transport. In the future, Bianco Petroli does not exclude the use of ISO containers, as it was in the original project. It does not exclude also a direct entry into the transport sector, both for its own needs and those of third parties, confirming the LNG trend towards solutions that integrate fuel distribution, transport uses and services and logistics into the same subject.
The distance between Mesagne and the nearest LNG station, which was that of Corridonia (MC), a few days ago has been reduced by a hundred kilometers, with the opening of the Teramo plant. Now a LNG vehicle with an autonomy of 1000 km could refuel LNG in Teramo and be sure to redo it to the south with less than half a tank, having the other half available to get to the delivery point within a radius of 250 km (for example Cosenza and Potenza). You could also get to Gioia Tauro starting from the other new plant recently inaugurated in Fiano Romano, and then return to the North via Mesagne and then go up the Adriatic highway.
