The Hungarian branch of the German transport and logistics Group Duvenbeck, acquired four IVECO LNG powered trucks in January, the first of their kind to be purchased in Hungary and in the entire Duvenbeck group fleet.

After conducting tests with several manufacturers, the Hungarian transporter opted for the Iveco Stralis NP 460 trailers equipped with double tanks (2x440 liters) and with a 1,100 kilometres autonomy, which will be used to transport automobile spare parts between Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, with loads ranging from 12 to 18 tons.

According to Norbert Joichl, the choice was dictated not only by environmental objectives but also due to the economic savings generated. "LNG trucks are exempt from the transit tax in Germany for the next two years, offering significant economic benefits in addition to low fuel consumption, quantifiable in savings of about 0.20 Euro per kilometre, equivalent to about 20% of total operating costs. When the first LNG refuelling stations will open in Hungary, we will use our LNG trucks also in Hungarian internal missions.”

Duvenbeck Group (headquartered in Bocholt, Germany) has more than 35 locations in eight European countries and counts about 6,000 employees and a fleet of 1,600 own lorries.
