Italy has received its first cargo of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from shale gas. Awilco LNG’s 156,007-cbm WilPride delivered the Sabine Pass cargo to FSRU Toscana located off the Italian coast between Livorno and Pisa. The discharging operations of some 105,000-cbm of LNG were completed on Tuesday, OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, the operator of the Italian FSRU said in a statement. Germany’s Uniper won the cargo delivery through a tender issued by OLT Offshore in October for the peak shaving service organized by Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development The cargo has been sourced from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Louisiana on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It has been the fourth Sabine Pass cargo to land in Europe following earlier deliveries to Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.
