New Orleans-based Harvey Gulf International Marine has taken delivery of its fifth LNG-powered offshore supply vessel. The latest addition to Harvey Gulf’s fleet, the Harvey America, was built at the Gulf Coast Shipyard Group in Mississippi, like the previous four LNG-fueled OSVs.

The vessel, with an overall length of 92 meter, a width of 19,50 and a deadweight of  5.500 tons, has an LNG tank capacity of 78,000 gallons of LNG and is being powered and propelled by Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines.

The vessel is “ENVIRO+, Green Passport” certified by ABS, making it and her sister ships, the “most environmentally friendly” OSV’s in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Harvey Gulf, supporting operations of the oil and gas industries.

It can operate for up to 15 days before refuelling. The LNG powered vessels provide an alternative fuel to meet sulphur and nitrogen oxide emissions regulations in the North American Emission Control Area (ECA).

The first three OSV LNG ships from Harvey were chartered to Shell Offshore Inc. to support its offshore oil operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
