Endesa, the Spanish subsidiary of Enel, has recently inaugurated in Spain a new LNG refueling station in the Municipality of Molina de Segura, the first liquefied natural gas station in the Murcia region located inside the "Campillo Palmera" plant, one of the main Spanish transport and logistics companies which owns a fleet of over 500 own trucks and the main customer of the "gasinera". Enel imports LNG in Spain from the liquefaction plant of Sabine Pass (Cheniere group) in the Gulf of Mexico.

The inauguration was attended by the President of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, who underlined "the commitment of the regional transport sector for sustainable mobility and respect for the environment" and the Director of Enterprise and Public Administration Enel X Iberia, Endesa, Miguel Barroso, who added that "this type of collaboration reflects the way we have to work in increasingly complex environments, where commercial interests go hand in hand with a more sustainable society." Natural Gas Vehicular is the alternative real, efficient and sustainable to conventional mobility for long-distance heavy transport."

The new LNG station, which has a 60 cubic meters tank of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and two LNG dispensers, currently supplies the 15 IVECO Stralis NP 460 LNG trucks owned so far by the "Campillo Palmera", a company that expects in the next years of enhancing their entry into its sustainable fleet. For this purpose, two further development phases of the plant are envisaged: the installation of a compressed natural gas dispenser (L-CNG) and in a third phase, the construction of an additional LNG tank and a further LNG pump.

In addition to the maintenance of the "Campillo Palmera" trucks, the "service station" will allow the refuelling of other CNG-powered vehicles, enhancing the methane refuelling network in Spain and contributing to the decarbonisation of the Spanish transport system.

Molina de Segura is indeed one of the main operational bases of logistics and transport in Spain, a real "transport city" with 29 logistics companies and 164 transport companies, as well as dealers of major brands of heavy vehicles.
