Swedish maritime operator Destination Gotland has recently christened its first LNG-powered RoPax ferry - named Visborg - during a recent ceremony held at China’s Nasha-Guangzhou Shipyard International, at the mouth of Pearl River.
Two hundred meters long, with a max capacity of 1,730 passengers and 350 cars (or 110 lorries), the ship has also a twin vessel being built at the same Chinese shipyard.
Both the ship will operate in Sweden on the ferry route Visby-Nynashamn, via Oskarshamn, with a crossing time of about 3 hours.
The Visborg is expected to begin operations in late February 2019. The ferry will be fueled by LNG supplier, Nauticor, a unit of the Linde Group, as part of a deal signed earlier this year.
