RETE SpA, an Italian company located in Turin, (Piemonte) active in oil industry and owner of more than 60 service stations, has started the construction of two LNG plants in the Province of Turin in San Maurizio Canavese and Beinasco.

The two new plants, built by Ham Italia, will be inaugurated in June 2018 and are located near Interport S.I.T.O. and Turin Caselle Airport. These are the first LNG plants in the Province of Turin and will be followed by the end of 2018 by other 3 plants: in Novara (near the Interport, a few hundred meters from the A4 motorway), in Turin and in the municipality of Poirino, where there is already a LNG station of Rete Spa which today supplies only CNG.

An interesting news, the first of its kind in Italy, is the decision to develop an ad hoc brand for LNG: BLU. It will be a trademark owned by Rete S.p.A. designed to identify the company's LNG stations and, more generally, to underline the concept of an innovative and environmentally friendly service station. As part of this larger project - funded entirely by Rete Spa, without any public subsidy - projects for electric and biomethane supplies are also under study.

The operational LNG plant is supplied by Polargasvia tankers from Marseille and the company’s plan, regardless of the supplier that will be chosen for the next plants, is to confirm the same supply model with loading from Marseilles/Fos.

"We think that LNG represents an unique opportunity to guarantee the development of a sustainable mobility model, capable of combining respect for the environment and reducing operating costs for transporters". Teseo Bastia, CEO of Rete SpA, affirmed. "Our program will guarantee the mapping of the entire Turin area, from North to Sud  of  Eastern Piedmont on the Turin - Milan route. In this way, it will be ensured the possibility to supply all the road transport companies operating in the North-West of the country that will chose LNG fuel for their fleets."
