25TH LNG filling station opened in The Netherlands

The Dutch distributor of liquefied natural gas PitPoint and the transportation company Transport Van Overveld (TVO) inaugurated a new LNG refueling station in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, in mid-June.

The new plant - located at Roosendaal's TruckEasy service station near the A17 motorway (Aanwas 37) in the heart of the largest logistics area in the Netherlands (the country's first logistics hotspot 2018 in West-Brabant) - is the twenty-fifth distribution of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) of the country and the third station commissioned by PitPoint in the last six months, after the opening of the two LNG stations of Den Hoorn and Venlo-Sevenum inaugurated last January (see news ConferenceGNL of 22.01 .2018 http://www.conferenzagnl.com/due-nuovi-distributori-iperself-gnl-olanda/).

With 25 stations, the Netherlands can now swank of being the European country with the largest network of LNG distributors and it is expected that the extension of the network will continue, driven by an increasing environmental and economic interest in the use of gas natural liquefied in the transport sector, which according to Joost de Ruijter, director of sales of PitPoint "with an increasingly favorable price ratio in the last eighteen months and a growing range of LNG trucks is becoming a rational alternative for transport national and international "

For Gert Van Overveld, director and founder of the TVO company that has chosen LNG for a significant portion of its truck fleet, LNG as an energy carrier “in many ways a viable alternative to diesel: clean, cheap and available, considering that LNG trucks are as efficient as diesel trucks in terms of comfort, power, traction and autonomy”.

PitPointLNG is a joint venture formed by PitPoint clean fuels and Primagaz Nederland BV. This joint venture is focused entirely on the realisation and operation of LNG infrastructure for trucks and shipping.

The realisation of this LNG filling location is part of the LNG Motion programme, part-funded by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union.
